WESCO has acquired RS Electronics, a company which reportedly has eight branches and 2011 sales of around $60 million.

In a company news release, WESCO chairman and CEO John Engel said, “Along with our acquisitions of Carlton Bates Company in 2005 and AA Electric in 2008, RS Electronics expands our industrial OEM customer base and electronic-based product offerings.”

According to the acquired company’s website, “RS Electronics is a wholesale distributor of electronic components, test and measurement instruments, as well as customized purchasing and inventory management services. Founded in 1929, RS is an award-winning company and one of the top-ranked companies in the electronics industry.”

In 2011, WESCO also acquired RECO LLC of Cincinnati, a company with estimated annual sales of $25 million, and Brews Supply of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a company with sales said to be about $50 million per year. The RS Electronics acquisition may be the largest this year, in terms of sales. In all, WESCO seems to have added roughly $135 million in sales through acquisitions during 2011.
